Backdoor Access is a Memphis-based audio podcast aimed at connecting and empowering listeners. Each episode addresses often-taboo topics such as living with HIV, dating while positive or undetectable, mental health impact, sex industry work, and stigma in sexual and mental healthcare. It explores structural inequalities in healthcare and highlights Memphis resources for underserved communities. This podcast is raw, real, and designed for those who need it most.
-
In Memphis, discussions about sexual health, mental wellness, and survival for marginalized people are often overlooked. This neglect creates future challenges. While the city is culturally rich and resilient, it lacks equitable healthcare access for Black, LGBTQ+, low-income, and HIV-affected communities. Backdoor Access aims to reclaim these conversations, bringing them to light. By openly discussing sex, health, trauma, stigma, joy, and survival, we foster honesty, healing, and connections to vital resources. This podcast serves as an open mic for the authentic, complex voices of Memphis that deserve attention.
-
Your guide through these conversations is none other than Justin Raynard Hicks—a Memphis-born, multi-hyphenate creative who brings charisma, humor, and truth-telling to every mic he touches.
“You’ve been granted access…Backdoor Access,” Hicks opens. “I’m your host with the most and the HBIC in this junt…Justin Raynard. We’re bringing you all facts—no alternative facts—and the tea you need. We’re giving you news you can use and having a little fun in the process.”
His voice sets the tone: real, rooted, and ready to shake the table. Whether you're tuning in from South Memphis, Midtown, Orange Mound, or anywhere beyond, Justin is here to tell it like it is—and help you feel seen, supported, and strong.
