At The Corner, we offer Truvada, Descovy, and Apretude for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP is a medication taken to prevent HIV infection. PrEP is highly effective for prevention of HIV when it is taken as prescribed. The medication reduces risk of getting HIV from sex by 99% and by 74% for injection drug use. PrEP does not prevent other STIs, but it is more than 99% effective in preventing HIV. PrEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy.

Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is a medication taken to prevent HIV infection after potential exposure to HIV. PEP must be started within 72 hours (about 3 days) of possible exposure to be effective. PEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy.   

PEP is not a substitute for regular HIV prevention such as taking Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), using condoms consistently and correctly during each sexual encounter, reducing sexual partners, and practicing abstinence.

Condom’s are another great tool at preventing not only HIV but other STI’s.  With appropriate usage, condom’s reduce the risk of all STI’s by 98% All of our locations offer free access to a variety of condoms including non-latex condoms.  Unsure how to use a condom?
