BGDP Vol. 12: Loud & Proud

This year, we returned to Crosstown Theater, where Friends For All (then Friends For Life) held our 10th volume of Big Gay Dance Party in 2022. Developed in partnership with Mid-South Pride, this event officially kicked off the pride celebrations for Memphis Pride Fest 2024, connecting our community and supporting the mission of Friends for All: to prevent the spread of HIV and help those affected by HIV/AIDS live well. The annual Mid-South pride bash is a chance for members of the LGBTQIA+ community to come together in celebration of their pride.

Attendees enjoyed an action-packed night of music, dancing, drinks, and a safe, inclusive environment to be their true selves. Friends For All also provided free HIV testing and voter registration at the party through its free testing and community center, The Haven. The fun and lively DJ A.D. energized the venue all night as she supplied irresistible beats and the talented performers from QCG Productions provided entertainment with dancers.

This year’s theme was “Loud & Proud: Celebrating Speaking Out and Being Heard”. This theme was chosen after our organization learned first-hand the importance of listening to our community's voices. Voting registration was also available throughout the night at different locations within the party to help amplify those voices during this year’s election.
